School of Art and Design

The Advanced Textiles Research Group is part of the School of Art and Design at Nottingham Trent University. Some background to the School might be of interest:

The School of Art and Design started life as the Nottingham Government School of Design in 1843. It was known as the College of Art and Design in the 1960s which saw the commencement of degrees being awarded. It then became known as Trent Polytechnic in 1969 and it is at this point that the Bonington building was designed as a purpose-built art and design facility. In 1992 University status was achieved bringing with it the name Nottingham Trent University.

The School has an exceptional national and international reputation and a significant historical reputation. We are proud to be working with our international franchise partners in the delivery of our courses. This, together with the business with our collaborative partners and our commitment to working with international subject-related organisations, underpins our international reputation

Currently the School has 3045 students studying at a wide range of levels from research to foundation degrees. The School has a newly appointed Dean, 5 Academic Team Leaders, 4 Professors, 3 Readers, 130 lecturers and 25 technical support staff.
